かつて私の尊敬している人が「内気はプライドだ」と言っていました。内気な人は自分自身について悩むことにたくさんの時間を使い、外に目を向けるべき時や仕事を成し遂げたり状況を改善したりすべき時でさえも、人から自分がどう見られるかばかりを心配してしまうと。

これは素晴らしいアドバイスです。自分自身について考えすぎるのではなく、もっと外に目を向けましょう。事実、誰もが自分のことばかりを考えていて、誰もあなたのことなど気にしていません。自意識過剰になる必要はないのです。
